Pleasanton, California, Us
Nano-precision motion control, and vibration analysis and design in the R&D of the Xenium In Situ Analyzer (high-throughput biological imaging for spatial analysis).
Palo Alto, California, Us
Mechanical design of pre-aligned optics assemblies, and motor & MEMS mirror control in biomedical device development
Berkeley, Ca, Us
Developing mask inspection tool for EUV lithography.
Livermore, Ca, Us
Precision system design, hardware-software interfacing, real-time control, and process characterization for high-throughput projection-based additive manufacturing using a femtosecond laser and a micromirror array. The technology (parallel two-photon lithography) enables the manufacturing of millimeter-scale structures with sub-micron feature sizes at a speed of two orders of magnitude faster than the conventional serial-scanning technique.
College Station, Tx, Us
Wearable device development for real-time health monitoring: 1) Electronic design and embedded firmware development for bio-potential measurements, 2) algorithm development for respiration-rate estimation and sleep-apnea detection, and 3) testing on human subjects in the clinic.Developing a laser cutting/bending machine for thin plastic sheets with feedback control (using computer vision to estimate the bending angles of the parts to be reshaped): 1) building the CO2 laser cutter, and 2) developing the software interface for its computer control

Before I started my Ph.D program in 2012, in planar maglev nanopositioning (levitating an object with nanoscale precision using magnetic force and move it along XY), some work had been reported but those were mostly in millimeter-scale travel with large couplings between the axes (translations and rotations). In my PhD research I opened up a pathway to centimeter-range travels with minimized couplings and unprecedented tip-tilt precision by introducing the 2-phase Lorentz-coil concept applied in magnetic levitation. The convention before that was the 3-phase concept. The successful verification of my new concept required the combination of the high precision in all the mechanical fabrication, magnetic field modeling, magnetic force calculation, interferometer measurements, and high-speed feedback & feedforward control.
College Station, Tx, Us
