About Natasha Harkison, Pla

Natasha Harkison is a Gujarati-American landscape architect, urban designer, and educator interested in cultural landscapes and contemporary urbanism. Her landscape and urban design practice, Project Samsara, focuses on the ways that migration affects a community’s relationship with the world. From the scale of the garden to scale of the neighborhood, Project Samsara seeks to make visible the narratives of emergent, marginalized voices in the landscape.Natasha currently teaches in the Department of Landscape Architecture at Cal Poly Pomona. Her courses and design studios focus on participatory design, spatial and ecological design, cartography, and theories of environmental design. Her goal as an educator is to engage students in alternative ways of learning, knowing, and practicing landscape architecture through a critical cultural lens. She has previously taught at Harvard University and Boston Architectural College. Natasha holds a Master of Landscape Architecture in Urban Design from the Harvard GSD and a Bachelor of Science in Landscape Architecture from Cal Poly Pomona.
