I joined Coed Cymru as an officer, working across Neath Port Talbot and Swansea in South Wales. I am responsible for working with private and public land ownersto manage, enhance and create new woodlands. Developing management plans for existing woodlands while supporting land owners in applying for grants and designing new woodlands.

The Working with Nature project is Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council project focused on managing and enhancing local wild spaces throughout the borough and engaging rural communities to develop their values, awareness and interest in nature through a variety of organised events, volunteer activities and training. As the project officer for the role I oversee the Volunteer Coordinator and ranger for the project, organise a calendar of engagement events at multiple sites throughout the borough and carry out all administration and budgeting for the project. Key tasks- Develop a volunteer network to assist in management and maintenance of nature sites- Develop volunteer handbooks, health and safety and inductions- Ensure volunteer coordinator maintains safe working practices when on site and maintain contact with volunteers regularly to ensure happiness- Organise a calendar of nature based events focused on raising awareness, education and skills for communities in Neath Port Talbot (including bushcraft, willow weaving, general identification skills, tools use, wood working etc.)- Plan and lead accredited training programs for volunteers and general public- Update GIS mapping for sites based on management plans and work carried out- Complete annual management plans for sites within the project and ensure work is carried out at the right time- Ensure all budgets are up to date and prepared for grant claims- Ensure administration, monitoring and data is stored securely and accurately and adhere to GDPR18

Founder of Blue Temple Conservation. A marine research and conservation NGO focused on fragile marine environments and creating sustainable management plans.
