Canon U.S.A.’s Business Information Communications Group (BICG) launched the Division’s Future Leaders Development Program February 3rd, 2020 at Canon Americas Headquarters. Designed to build engagement and develop career opportunities for high potential employees, this is a pilot program for BICG employees who aspire to be managerial roles within the division.We went through a very comprehensive selection process as there were only four spots available in this program. I have the privilege of being one of the four selected and will be spending the next two years learning the business from the “inside out”. For the next two years, I will be rotating through Administration, Service, Marketing and BICG Sales for six months at a time.Since the goal of the program is to prepare us for future leadership opportunities, at the conclusion of each rotation, we are expected to present our experiences to BICG senior management before moving on to the next rotation. In addition, we will receive specialized classroom training from the Canon U.S.A. Learning & Development Team, mentoring with a vice president from the division as well as coaching opportunities.It is an honor to have been selected for such a program and it really highlights how Canon U.S.A. is looking inward to help not only make the company more competitive in today’s challenging environment but develop it’s people to be the ones that help guide the organization in the future.

I continued in role but now as part of Sharp and took on national responsibilities for solutions sales and services.As the Director of Solution Sales and Services, I was assigned to support the solutions sales activities in all 10 direct sales branches for Sharp Business Systems nationally. My primary role was to assist the local Applications Specialists in developing the "technology strategy" for specific accounts in their marketplace. The SBSi team was our in house development team that pioneered many of the embedded applications seen today. For example, we were the first to offer a stand alone embedded connector to Microsoft Exchange as well as the first to promote and implement an embedded authentication system that utilized industry standard HID Proximity cards for multifunction copiers back in 2005. Today, almost every enterprise Secure Print system utilizes HID card authentication as a means to speed up and simplify the authentication process. The SBSi team was attributed with helping Sharp Business Systems secure over $20 Million dollars in business from 2007 to 2011.
