The BSc Human Nutrition degree combined a variety of scientific disciplines to give me a strong grasp of the role of diet and nutrition in health and the prevention of major diseases like cardiovascular disease, cancer, diabetes, and osteoporosis. The course provided me with a thorough knowledge of the relationship between nutrition and health, as well as how to apply this information to individual and public health, as well as supplying consumers with safe and nutritious food. The course combined basic sciences, food science, physiology, biochemistry, psychology, and specialised nutrition modules in an innovative and engaging way that provided me with the information, skills, and training needed to function as a nutritional or food scientist. I have completed modules such as chemistry, nutrition, microbiology, analytical techniques, health statistics and data analysis.I am currently working as a product builder in Boston Scientific, Galway for the past 2 years on the weekend shift. My 2 years working in a DES cleanroom on crimping, inspection and packing steps on the line has promoted, built, and sustained a culture of safety and awareness in the key steps the products are completed before shipping by inspecting products carefully for irregularities and defects so that only the highest quality products are processed.
