Project OfficerForth Rivers Trust May 2022 - PresentEdinburgh, Scotland, United KingdomAlongside general project work across the Forth catchment, part of my time spent will be working under the Senior Project Officer as part of the EU MERLIN project River Forth case study. Modern Apprentice (Callander Landscape Partnership)Callander Youth Project Trust Sep 2019 - May 2021CallanderThe Callander Landscape Partnership is a Heritage Lottery Funded project which aims to help transform the Callander area into 'the outdoor capital of the Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park'. The project aims to do this by enhancing the rich and diverse natural and cultural heritage found in the area, while encouraging people to relate and engage with it in a sustainable manner. My time with the project allowed me to be directly involved in practical habitat management and conservation, wildlife surveying (with GIS related software and data processing), archaeological excavation, planning and surveying, in addition to involvement in the partnership's 'Oral History Project'. This project aims to capture the memories of Callander residents and their experiences, with a particular interest on how they've lived, worked and interacted with the landscape. I transcribed interviews as part of this project, which was a new challenge for me but also incredibly satisfying. This role enabled me to work alongside other conservation organisations, such as NatureScot, where I've been able to further increase my skillset while working on nationally important sites such as Flanders Moss National Nature Reserve. One of my favourite projects was a riparian tree planting project on the River Larig, working with the Forth Rivers Trust. This is a significant project which aims to support the aquatic and terrestrial species found in the upper Forth catchment.
