I am a 4th year Common Law Student at the University of Glasgow, having completed a study abroad year at Sciences Po (Institut d'études politiques de Paris) in Paris. I have studied extensively in international law, focusing on transitional justice within international human rights. Within this, I have taken a particular interest in gender theory, and how the law interacts with it. I have a longstanding interest in gender theory and its intersection with human rights and global development. I have taken courses such as ‘Gender and Queer Law’ and ‘Transitional Justice’. This academic foundation has helped me develop a strong interest in international law and gender theory. I am also currently pursuing a dissertation focused on the role of women as activists in post-conflict Transitional Justice. I have experience serving as a Marketing Strategist and Social Impact team member at BrightHer Social Enterprise, working on non-profit campaigns supporting victims of domestic abuse. In this role, I coordinated with Glasgow-based youth projects to implement preventive measures. This role allowed me to develop strong research, communication, and teamwork skills essential for a pupillage, as well as allowing me to develop an ability to liaise in a professional setting. An opportunity to focus on gender inequality through a variety of legal areas, such as employment and human rights, would allow me to continue my work in this area and contribute at a higher policy level. I am also very comfortable managing several tasks simultaneously, whilst bringing enthusiasm and focus to a team. For example, I have had many working roles, varying from part-time jobs to academic-based roles, such as my new role as a Student Experience Tutor with Glasgow University, and previously as a notetaker for Sciences Po disability services. I also have many voluntary experiences, including being a Unibuddy and Study Abroad Ambassador, as well as my roles within Glasgow societies, such as Common Law Vice President of Glasgow Bar Society and International Events Convenor of Glasgow University International Law Society I am enthusiastic about contributing to gender equality through legal practice, and I am eager to leverage my background and dedication to pursuing meaningful action at the Bar, relating to human rights and employemnt law. I am currently pursuing the further steps needed for my legal training. I am also now looking for opportunities to gain legal work experience.
