At Life Notes™, we believe in the power of telling our stories in a compassionate space, whether for ourselves or to share with others.We deliver exploratory writing workshops for those who work in roles where they help and care for others, guiding them  to bear witness to their experiences, both the difficult and the joyful, to bring awareness to their thoughts and feelings, to gain insights that can inform considered actions, to connect with why they do the work they do. I hold a master’s degree in creative writing from the University of Limerick and I've facilitated creative writing and storytelling workshops for organisations such as Limerick Mental Health Association and Narrative 4 Ireland. I spent seventeen years practicing medicine, nine of them as a GP, until I left this work due to burnout. Caring work is a tapestry of the beauty and trauma of life - healthcare, social care, teaching, family carers and other roles. Over the past few years, previously unimaginable burdens of psychological and physical strain have been carried by these workers who care for others, individually and collectively. Humans have always used story to create meaning and connection. At Life Notes™, we open up a space to bring these two experiences together, where we gather to explore our stories and to share them with others if it helps us to do so.Those on the ground know that what would make the most difference to workers' wellbeing in the caring fields are better resources so they can do their jobs to the best of their abilities. While we wait for that to happen, I would love to see you at one of our writing workshops. You don't need any previous writing experience. You don't need to share your story if you're not ready. You just need to bring your true self, your pen and paper, and your curiosity. Because your story matters.
