About Nick Benton
At Massdriver I educated customers and the community on Platform Engineering and the modernization of DevOps as a Cloud Solution Architect. I give regular webinars (multicasted to LinkedIn), onboard customers, build demos, present them at conferences, a little bit of everything I've been building up to in the past few years of my career. In 2023, I took a run at becoming a Founder and starting my own consultancy and building a few apps I designed under Nonpareil Solutions as Duck Tape DevOps designing AI pipelines and ephemeral, scaling infrastructure to support them as well as regression testing for things like LLM hallucinations. Getting a startup off the ground is hard, and life happens. It was a fun year of discovery and I learned a TON.At OpenZiti/NetFoundry as DevOps Director, I redesigned their CI/CD system from the ground up in order to reduce development, testing, deployment, and design speeds and costs while delivering higher up-time. I mentored team members on Jenkins, Terraform and AWS and how to most efficiently and effectively use the products. Next, I helped design their Tech Advocacy position in order to help drive value from an engaged community. At Pearson, I was a Principle DevOps Architect designing AWS native applications and bring prior AWS applications forward to better architecture and quicker deployments. I also have done a good bit of work on automating cost savings through a proper CI/CD process. I redesigned Pearson's Authoring Framework for a better microservice architecture and CI/CD flow.At Sahaj I was a core member of the Raleigh based team. We got the opportunity to build a great cloud native and fully automated web app for an advertising company to help run their daily operations and track Proof Of Play for their customers. I also was able to spend 2 months in Sahaj's Bangalore office to get leadership mentorship from the founders of the company and some of the top consultants in the industry. As a DevOps Engineer at LexisNexis my main priority was to optimize their CI/CD process within the Shared Services applications. I also migrated multiple applications to AWS as part of this role.As a Software Engineer at Fidelity I was on a team working with big data and making the transition to the cloud. I was on an architecture team fulfilling a DevOps role during the migration to AWS and Azure. As a Software Developer at Liberty Healthcare Management my duties ranged from creating new webpages to Lawson/Infor to fixing or updating SQL procedures.
