The Search and Rescue Technician (SAR Tech) is part of a group of elite, highly trained rescue specialists who provide insertion on-scene, medical aid and extraction from some of the harshest and most remote areas of Canada. We are military aircrew who deploy from rotary or fixed wing aircraft in any environment or climactic condition. We will locate and penetrate the site, treat and evacuate casualties. SAR operations may require parachuting, mountaineering, hiking, swimming, scuba diving, sometimes in adverse conditions.• In-command, organizer, instructor, host of national events, training, qualification, up-grade and evaluation of all members to meet operational standby and training commitment (medical, training, transport, maintenance, marine and mountain operation sections).• Participated as Team Leader on the first formal Canadian Forces SAR TECH oversea deployment during the Op Hestia reaction to the earthquake in Haiti in Jan 2010 which involved intricate searches, rescues, medical treatments, air evacuations, management of military resources, and coordination with civilian and governmental organizations within systems for international, urban SAR, medical facility, inter-coordination duties and activities.• Lead, manage and participate in air-sea-ground rescue operations at the scene during any and all conditions and climates inside Canada's west on a daily basis.• Ensure, develop and maintain that training and operation are being conducted in accordance with current orders, regulations and standards.• Ensure proficiency logs, records, standards, currencies, equipment, advanced training and the professional development of all.• Monitors the latest developments in SAR and advises the CO through the ACC on the status of programs, trials and/or techniques in use or under study
