A highly experienced and award winning creative engineer passionate in all things lighting design and audio visual for a wide variety of sectors, with a career spanning nearly 40 years.I have had the privilege of being involved in a wide range of projects across the globe, which gives me a huge depth of knowledge and experience from which to draw.A proud family man, Husband to my beautiful wife, Dad to 2 gorgeous individuals, Grandad to the most lovely girl in the world (yes, biased!) and lucky to live on the edge of Dartmoor in Devon.Professional Experience Live Events Production My professional journey started as a 16 year old tech in my local theatre in Dundee, Scotland. Stints working in the West End, regional theatres, national opera, music and conference venues as an audio, lighting & video engineer, crew chief, stage & production manager producing live events & festivals, corporate awards ceremonies and large scale exhibitions cemented my live production capabilities, looking after clients such as VW, EDF Energy & SPAR UK My first contract when starting Pyramid in 1996 was producing a series of concerts on Plymouth Hoe, featuring over 120 acts on 2 stages and an audience of over 60,000. Bottom of the bill was an unknown local band called Muse....Audio Visual EngineeringDuring my time I have seen the AV world develop into a multi-faceted industry. I have been responsible for overseeing many corporate and high-end residential audio visual systems being deployed for the likes of Princess Yachts, ITV London, QBE Insurance, Compare The Market, Bank of China & Centrica Amongst the many highlights was winning the AV Awards Grand Prix prize in 2006 for the amazing ExploreOcean project for the National Marine Aquarium in Plymouth Lighting DesignLighting design and all of its applications has been a true passion throughout my career. The lighting world is huge, and I’ve lit everything from theatre and opera, conferences, live music events of all types, through to public and heritage buildings, corporate offices, hotels and restaurants, high end residential properties and even multiple royal palaces across the Middle East. Private Home CinemasDuring the last 10 years or so I have gained a passion and success designing some of the most notable private cinemas in EMEA. Winning multiple CEDIA Awards for Best Home Cinema in the EMEA region, it is a joy to be able to design and deliver unique, technically perfect and truly immersive entertainment spaces for families that wish to experience the very best in home cinema experiences.
