During and after high school I worked for a local custom audio company that specialized in unique custom audio installations and other general work. After my time there, I worked for two years at Walmart in both fresh produce and the garden department. In 2013 I took a position as a service technician at Tel-Tec Security Systems. I spent around seven years as a service technician and eventually become the head technician. I was later promoted to the field supervisor of the installation department as well as handling the warehouse and receiving, quality control, and remote programming services. I was in that position for about two years before I promoted to my current position as an estimator and system design engineer. I now work directly with our sales department in creating bids, compiling parts lists, verifying compatibility, and estimating costs. I design security, fire protection, surveillance, and access control systems that are all custom tailored on a per customer basis. I perform the vast majority of the CAD work as well which includes all fire alarm system drawings/plans. I also work with our safety training partner to provide workplace safety meetings, trainings, and tailgates. My final major role is in creating the training programs for the technicians. These introduce them to and further their knowledge of security systems, fire alarm systems, surveillance systems, and access control systems.
