Profile bio

About Nicholas A.

As a Naval Nuclear Electrician, I spent 18 months of rigorous training developing the knowledge necessary for the safe operation of a complex nuclear power plant and its sophisticated mechanical, electrical, and reactor subsystems with an emphasis on a component level understanding of electrical systems. Following initial training, I completed a laborious qualification process attached to a Ballistic Missile submarine (USS Kentucky) where I have excelled in both operating, and maintaining the submarine.I have 5 years of experience with switchboard operation to include: supervising and orchestrating electric plant shifts, performing electric plant shifts to achieve electrical isolation, and ensuring continuity of power during emergency situations. My experience also includes operating as a maintenance technician and supervisor. With in-depth technical system understanding, I am consistently called upon to troubleshoot and repair electrical distribution(switchboards, breakers, motor controllers, relay panels, pumps, and motors), power generation, and oxygen generating assets. I am proficient in reading electrical diagrams and have personally directed the de-energization of an entire half of a ballistic missile submarine’s electrical power distribution grid. Following qualification as a Senior in Rate Electrical Operator, I pursued qualifications in Maintenance organization, and management. Utilizing these qualifications, I led multiple teams in scheduling and executing large scale preventative and corrective maintenance under a mission ready and time critical schedule allowing for continued strategic deterrence. With a dynamic work environment that requires new technical documentation, rules, and regulations, it is essential to validate both ourselves, and our teams. As a leading member of my department, I contributed to the qualification, and instruction of dozens of junior team members. I’ve found a core value in myself throughout my career to strive to leave things better than I found them. I employ this through both my work ethic and my team leadership. I am progressive minded and determined to implement my experience with recent innovations in both technology and procedure. Let's connect and explore opportunities to collaborate and drive excellence in your organization.
