I have made fundamental contributions to a research payload that measures propellant in microgravity environments. This technology will be used on NASA's Artemis missions starting in the early 2020's. I designed and built the electrical systems and circuitry for the payload that was launched on a Blue Origin New Shepard research flight. In addition, I have participated in reduced-gravity parabolic flights for preliminary testing.

I’ve worked extensively on a CubeSat, a small satellite, that has a push-broom multi-spectral imager with an undergraduate team under a NASA-funding grant. I have extensive experience supporting the Attitude Determination and Control Systems’ software, which stabilizes and orients the satellite for taking images. In addition, I designed and constructed a Helmholtz cage that generates a uniform 3-axis adjustable magnetic field to simulate on-orbit magnetic conditions to test the Attitude Determination and Control Systems of the small satellite.

The Orbital Syngas Commodity Augmentation Reactor (OSCAR) project is a trash-to-gas system that will improve the efficiency of long duration deep space missions. The waste from these missions will be salvaged using Oscar to a variety of useful resources such as water and metals. A key milestone for OSCAR was to be tested and validated in a microgravity environment. To fulfill this requirement a Blue Origin Rocket was selected to carry out this test. In preparation for this test, my responsibilities included: to run verification testing, update design drawings to reflect changes in the payload, fabrication of test fixtures, and as well as any preparations needed.

I designed a low speed wind tunnel model of a conceptual Martian lander. Before my work, there had not been any low speed aerodynamic data available for the lander. I worked with a group of researchers to analyze the wind tunnel data in MATLAB. We correlated this empirical tunnel data to predictions made using Missile Datcom, a semi-empirical aerodynamics program.
