Staff EngineerPseg Mar 2018 - PresentAn engineer in the Outage Planning group primarily works on electrical construction projects that include full substation builds, replacement of transmission conductor, installation of fiber optic communication, transformer replacements and strategic large-scale network modifications. PSE&G has a long history within the densely populated areas of New Jersey; consequently, many projects must be sequenced around existing energized infrastructure serving customers. Complicating factors include limited real estate and overlapping project schedules within the same local grid. Outage Planning will create construction documents detailing the sequence of work that best preserves reliability for customers. The goals of the construction team often come with added risk to operations, Outage Planning coordinates the work between the two company entities to work towards solutions that keep projects on schedule and on budget, while keeping the lights on for PSEG’s customers.Additional responsibilities• Maintain project outage logs.• Ensure all project outages provide adequate protection for the scope of work.• Update electrical “one-line” schematics for construction related changes.• Facilitate load flow analysis of future grid conditions based on overlapping project schedules to identify outage conflicts.• Ensure that the Grid Operator (PJM) has all future stations modeled correctly and on time for initial equipment energization. -
