Building a database of company assets, creating work orders for maintenance, and implementing effective cost tracking of parts and consumables. Using SAP, I have placed purchase requests for spare parts and organising contractors for specialized tasks. Resolved long-term issues with machinery, as well as identifying and rectifying multiple unknown issues. Playing a key role in the enhancement of health and safety standards, such as implementing a LOTO (Lockout/Tagout) system.

·    Completing planned preventative maintenance routines (PPM).·    Responding to emergencies and repairing breakdowns.·    Completing lock-off procedures (LOTO), work orders, and permits to work. Ensuring HSE standards are followed throughout the ship.·    Looking for continuous improvements, and safety concerns.·    Checking and updating Standard Operation Procedures (SOPs).·    Setting up and controlling rigging/slinging operations in line with LOLER.·    Leading junior engineering technicians and delegating tasks.·    Following and updating the ships Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS).As a result of my exemplary work during my time as Motorman, I was accelerated to this role which usually takes a minimum of five years before promotion. The responsibilities can vary between different ship appointments, reporting to either the mechanical or electrical engineering departments, working independently, or managing teams of motorman.

·    Conducting rounds of the ship ensuring safe operation of equipment.·    Completing engine room and machinery cleanliness & running routines.·    Undertaking fire and flood preventative measures.·    Observing health and safety procedures such as working at height and confined spaces. ·    Ensuring lock-off tag-out procedures are adhered to by crew and contractors. ·    Taking measurements and making conversions for the completion of record-keeping documentation for all necessary daily readings. ·    Working to strict deadlines to high standards. ·    Immediately raising issues found with equipment, isolating and rectifying as necessary.·    Hand over to the next watchkeepers explaining any changes, defects, and which machinery is running and/or available.This role mainly consisted of watchkeeping, where I ensured the safe running of the ship’s equipment alongside the Engineering Officer of the Watch. I consistently received positive feedback, including being recognised in a report for my performance during exercises conducted with Royal Navy Admiralty due to my initial reactions and subsequent shutdown of compartments during a whole ship fire exercise.

·    Undertook Engineering Technician Initial Career Course at HMS Sultan, involving weekly tests for each of the subjects studied. ·    Studied Royal Navy mechanical/electrical equipment and systems, craft/workshop maintenance, and General Purpose Testing Equipment. ·    Complete the task book requirement for watchkeeping certification. Ensuring adequate time for further study during the initial career course, each of the subjects studied was passed with high percentages. As a result of my hard work and determination, the watchkeeping task book was completed during the first of two 4-month trips and the apprenticeship was completed with only 6 months sea time. The completed task book and associated system drawings are now used as an example of the high standard expected of new apprentices.

Following cold chain procedures and restocking shelves, ensuring correct rotation and stock control inside the stock storage fridges. I requested further training in every department of the store, ensuring flexibility and increasing my ability to cover overtime requirements. I would often step-up to take a leading role within the team as required, delegating tasks and advising colleagues on best practices.

Accepting and checking stores deliveries, transferring the goods through to shop floor shelves and ensuring the store was ready for customers during opening hours.
