I got my start in the Digital Forensics industry because I begged the owner of a private investigation firm in Houston, TX to hire me. Within 3 months I had my PI license. The day I received my PI license my boss gave me a work laptop, forensic software, a briefing packet regarding an embezzlement case, and said "There's an embezzlement case in Louisiana. You leave tomorrow. Figure out who's doing it, how long it's been going on, and the extent of the crime. Good luck."By my third digital forensic investigation I had already provided expert testimony, assisted law enforcement in catching an unknown sexual abuser of children. In the years after I have testified multiple times, provided depositions, aided in multiple arrests, aided in missing persons cases, BEC cases, ransomware mitigation and recovery, and have even taught CE/CLE/CPE to organizations such as the Houston Financial Crimes Division and the Secret Service who was in attendance.I have started to branch out of traditional digital forensics to other areas such as eDiscovery and DFIR. The goal is to gather as much knowledge and experience as possible to progress as high as I can go.
