Associate Cyber Software EngineerNorthrop Grumman Jan 2019 - Nov 2020Falls Church, Va, UsIn my role at Northrop Grumman, I was asked to reinvent the current DevOps process from the ground up. Within six months of work, I vastly improved the start to finish configuration time of 1,500 servers down from 27 hours to around 3 (an 81.8% increase in efficiency). The previous method was also destructive; if any changes failed the machine would have to be rebuilt. My method was nondestructive, allowing much greater flexibility on failed instances. This vast improvement was accomplished through the use of my Python engine utilizing Ansible and Puppet to establish SSH setups, IPA authentication, permission synchronization, software installation, and much more. For my work on this project, I received two first level awards for excellence from my immediate manager and my department lead. More recently, I solely developed a COTS obsolescence management tool in Python that took total reporting time from 8 hours to about 4 seconds (a 99.23% increase in efficiency). My work on this project earned me the highest level award for excellence at Northrop Grumman and a personal note of commendation from the Vice President of Program Management at Northrop Grumman. -
Thermal Systems Software Engineering InternNasa - National Aeronautics And Space Administration Jun 2018 - Aug 2018Washington, Dc, UsIn this role, I was tasked with implementing a way for a calculations engine program and a thermal modeling/analysis program to communicate with one another to more accurately model real-life conditions for use with the International Space Station, Orion Capsule, and any future missions performed by NASA. I was also tasked with making this calculation engine more efficient so the whole of the systems would produce more accurate results faster. At the end of the three month period, I had decreased total modeling time from two hours to around ten minutes (a 91.7% increase in efficiency) and was nominated for a NASA-sponsored patent for this solution. -
Software Engineering InternNasa - National Aeronautics And Space Administration Aug 2017 - Dec 2017Washington, Dc, UsIn my time at NASA, I was assigned to solely develop a bike tracking solution for the free range bikes at Johnson Space Center. This was achieved through Raspberry Pis and the creation of a custom-built Android app to provide the tracking and analysis of the data produced by these bikes. At the end of the five month internship, I had created this solution from nothing to code finish and the project itself had entered the beta phase of testing. For my work on this project, I won the Johnson Space Center Director's Choice award which recognizes the best project taking place from all departments at Johnson Space Center, beating out AR applications for astronauts aboard the International Space Station, thermal reentry solutions for the Orion capsule, and hundreds more. In addition to this, my solution was adapted to personnel monitoring and safety assurance for astronauts aboard the ISS and is in active use. -
It InternFlex Leasing Power And Service Llc Nov 2016 - Aug 2017The role of IT intern encompassed many roles. In my time here, I provided general IT services in the form of repairing and imaging machines for end users. I also aided in the development of alternative solutions to internal issues, such as helping in the preparation of an internal company Wiki, allowing private and publicly accessible pages, separated by department and need.
