My team was working on optimizing computer vision algorithms on Qualcomm's Hexagon DSP. As an intern I was responsible for optimizing algorithms using both Hexagon DSP assembly as well as C-intrinsics. My work involved an understanding of cache considerations, multi-threading, SIMD and vector instructions, and software pipelining. I also worked with members of the LLVM compiler team on exploring the potential of the functional programming language Halide for writing high-performance image processing code. I thoroughly enjoyed what I was working on and am now excited to learn more about computer vision.
