Profile bio

About Nicholas Dipinto

Six years ago, I had no clue what DevOps was or that it even existed. I started my career as a software development intern writing unit tests for a REST API, but I wanted to do more to help my team. Eventually, I was given the chance to prove myself when one of my product owners asked if I would like to switch my focus to DevOps. I had no idea what he was talking about. He explained to me that it was a new practice they were trying to bring into the company to help improve the synergy between development and operations. Since no one else was working on this effort, he said, "Basically, we are going to be throwing you in to the deep end here". I understood this was important to my team so I didn't hesitate to say yes. Since that day, I have been thriving in the deep end. Now, I have more than five years worth of experience under my belt, working with defense companies like Raytheon, delivering quality software that supports other development teams. Here is a quick list of what I've accomplished since then:1) I have built more continuous integration and delivery pipelines than I can count. Each one focusing on detecting more software quality and security defects before merged in with our master branch.2) I reduced time spent manually auditing work item metrics by 60% using Python to query our project management system's API (please read my Experience section for more examples of my automation expertise). 3) I re-design software architecture to stream line build and release processes.4) I research new technologies and share my findings with my team demonstrating how the technology can benefit our work as a way to facilitate communication about best practices and how we can improve. To summarize, I never shy away from a challenge. I love to explore new ideas about software design and project management practices. More importantly, I love spending time building up other people and helping them to achieve more than they realize they could, which is why I work in DevOps.

Listed skills include Matlab, Microsoft Office, Leadership, Teamwork, and 41 others.
