I am pleased to share that I currently hold the position of Volunteer Coordinator for the Read Aid literacy initiative, a program designed to support over 200 underprivileged children in Accra with reading the English Language. As the coordinator, my primary responsibility is to lead a network of tertiary student volunteers who work with the children in Basic 1 and 2, providing reading support and program assistance.In my role, I oversee the management of the program's volunteers and provide guidance to ensure that they are equipped with the necessary tools and resources to support the children. I also collaborate with other stakeholders to develop strategies that enhance the program's effectiveness, including the creation of innovative approaches to engage the children in the reading process.Since taking up this role, I have been successful in managing a team of volunteers who have made significant contributions to the program's success. I have also been able to build strong relationships with the children, teachers, and other stakeholders, which have helped to foster a positive and supportive environment for the children to learn.Overall, my experience as the Volunteer Coordinator for the Read Aid literacy initiative has allowed me to develop critical leadership and organizational skills, including effective communication, team management, and program planning. I am grateful for the opportunity to contribute to this worthy cause and look forward to continuing to make a meaningful impact in the lives of the children we serve.
