Read about the work of my lab at http://dynamicog.orgWith the rapid expansion of new technologies that can capture behavior and neural activity at scale, there has rarely been a time in history where the study of human thought and action has been so richly informed. We are in an era where the availability of large-scale and real-world data has the potential to radically alter how we study mind and behavior. To this end, my published work is focused on the ways in which complex cognitive processes are revealed in the dynamics of movement and language, both within individuals and across dyads and groups. I am particularly interested in how people come to understand one another in communication, how to detect deception and hidden biases, ways to improve collaborative problem-solving in educational contexts, and more. I make use of a variety of techniques to study these processes, including laboratory-based experimental and computational modeling methods that borrow on insights from the data and information sciences.
