Transfer knowledge from the R&D and Operations department to build out the Customer Technical Support infrastructure. Utilize the knowledge gained from past research, applications and customer service experience to document cases and apply fixes and solutions to issues discovered in the field. Write technical documents and user bulletins to outline past solutions for continuous company progression to minimize customer downtime. Feed the knowledge learned back into the R&D and operations departments to produce more robust, reliable instrumentation for the company reputation and sustained growth.The Technical Support role also requires an ability to recognize customer training needs and to organize and teach courses to enhance the customer application of the RapidHIT products.

As a DNA Analyst the key responsibility is to obtain DNA from crime stains and reference material as free from impurities as possible. Strict quality control procedures are followed to achieve this aim using Qiagen manual DNA extraction kits to isolate genomic DNA from the samples. The extracts are purified, quantified with rtPCR, amplified using ABI SGM+ PCR kit, separated using ABI 3500 genetic analysers and analysed using GeneMapper® ID-X. Attention to detail to minimise contamination risks is imperative, as well as communication and team work are extremely important to insure processes are carried out efficiently to meet the high demand and quick turn-around times on results. The position requires an in-depth knowledge of Biology and Chemistry so that prompt troubleshooting, training and amendments to procedures can be carried out with minimal loss of time and quality.

I took a leading role in assisting in a research project to characterise eight new monoclonal antibodies that recognise cell surface marker antigens of human embryonic stem cells. The work was challenging and exciting and required great attention to detail when designing experiments, and good communication skills to keep individuals and the team working effectively. The project involved the use of a wide range of techniques, including cell culture, flow cytofluorimetry, immunocytochemistry and western blotting, as well as analysing and assessing data.
