I was involved in the research and development of flexible erosion-resistant polymer coatings for aerospace applications, including nanocomposite materials. I frequently tested and compared the samples’ mechanical strength using Instron tensile testing equipment, performed erosion tests on samples using a sand blaster, and tested their stability in humid environments using a desiccator at various temperatures. To identify phase changes in the samples, I would use thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). Furthermore, I would apply shear mixing followed by centrifugation to various particles and embed them into the samples to alter their physical properties including their interactions with water droplets. I would communicate all results to my supervisor through various means such as short reports that included graphs depicting trends in the data. I coordinated with my team and externals to schedule and attend meetings about the assessments of many expressions of interest and proposals, and reporting the results. Finally, I wrote numerous letters to externals describing the results of the assessments in both English and French, and I managed all their proposals, contact information, and financial data within GCdocs for ease of access by my team.
