My name is Nick Lamson, and I am a researcher with over ten years of drug delivery experience, primarily specializing in leveraging bio-inspired strategies to develop drug carriers that transport therapeutics to and through the endothelial and epithelial barriers of the body.I am currently a postdoctoral researcher in the lab of Dr. Paula Hammond at the Koch Institute for Integrative Cancer Research at MIT. My work focuses on the development of layer-by-layer electrostatically assembled polymeric nanoparticles that cross the blood brain barrier (BBB) and deliver therapeutics to glioblastoma tumors.Previously, I was a PhD candidate in the lab of Dr. Kathryn Whitehead in the Department of Chemical Engineering at CMU. My overall focus was on manipulating intestinal permeability for therapeutic purposes. Within this frame, I am interested both in increasing epithelial permeability for improved protein drug delivery, and in decreasing permeability to treat inflammatory bowel diseases.
