Photon Control is a manufacturer of Spectrometers and Optical Temperature Sensors. I was hired to increase revenues in the Spectrometer division, but was quickly moved to handling the company’s largest account; which represented 42% of Photon’s annual revenue. • 24% and 42% YoY growth in the spectrometer division in my first and second years respectively. • Handled the Lam Research account, which accounted for ~$14mm in annual revenues. This account had stringent “JIT” delivery and “CE!” requirements. • Developed relationships and started trials with several OEM partners. • Managed the redesign of the company’s spectrometer product offering.• Pitched and managed the creation of an optical bench customization web-app.• I left to take on the opportunity to further develop my management skills.

Geodigital International is global geospatial data and LiDAR surveying company. I was hired to perform Quality Control on power-transmission corridors that were classified by off-shore subcontractors. • I used CADD programs such as Bentley MicroStation and PLS-CADD, in conjunction with TerraScan’s software suite, to analyze 3D LiDAR corridors for the purpose of surveying power-transmission infrastructure.• Became a de-facto team-lead and helped with delicate side projects and the delegation of work. • I left GeoDigital when they closed the Vancouver office and downsized their Victoria office. I was offered a contract renewal, but the writing was on the wall. I chose to take a chance on the mainland instead. A good choice; Geodigital ended up moving everything to Austin soon after.

ONEIT was the only IT consulting firm south of Kelowna. I was hired to service the IT needs of Okanagan businesses. This was my first professional position out of university. I started out as a help desk technician, but after several book-buried nights I quickly proved myself as much more.• Handled emergency workstation repair.• Managed network infrastructure and server integrity for municipalities, law firms and insurance agencies. • Created and implemented the IT plan for the Osoyoos Golf and Country Club. This saw the installation of a new server, XRF networking of their “snack shack” and the onboarding of a new POS system. • Limited by the wages of the region, I decided to take a chance on a bigger city.

Old Town Farm Market is a chain of green grocers in the Okanagan. Through the majority of high school I worked as a “supervisor” with Quality Greens in Penticton (2003-2007,) so when I needed a few dollars to get through my studies in Kelowna, Old Town was a natural choice. • I worked evening shifts stocking shelves and running the till to pay for University.• After graduation, I was asked to move back to Penticton to open a new location. This was an amazing experience; I learned a lot about managing people, expanding a business and “the customer experience.”• The store was successful, so I began looking for something more closely related to my education.

In my third and fourth years of university, I was hired to instruct two first-year Physics labs. This position had me provide a short lecture, and guide students through a variety of Physics experiments. • I took the challenge of teaching a non-calculus based lab (for the science majors who aren’t math-focused.) • This position was instrumental in teaching me how to effectively and delicately communicate complicated material to a general audience. • I received outstanding evaluations, and my students had significantly higher grades than other lab sections. • I was no longer eligible to work as a TA after graduation.

A unique position, this community outreach program was created by city council for the purpose maintaining positive PR around the new, provincially funded, youth park. I was hired to manage a variety of community programs and supervise the park. • I designed and implemented the positive ticketing campaign in partnership with local businesses and the RCMP. • Organized and implemented the annual “Bowl Jam;” a popular local extreme sports competition. • Assisted the Brain Injury Society with their helmet outreach program.• Managed the summer “skate camp;” a day-camp for kids aged 6 to 12.• This was a contract position from late June to early October. I served 3 terms.
