Work in the Gore Laboratory focuses on the neuroendocrine control of reproduction, and connections among hormones, brain sexual differentiation, and behavior. Current research seeks to understand how prenatal exposure to environmental endocrine disruptors (EDCs) causes molecular epigenetic modifications and cellular changes to the developing hypothalamus and the manifestations of these effects later in life, and trans-generationally. Our team uses a variety of techniques, including behavioral, physiological, neuroanatomical, immunohistochemical (light and electron microscopy), and molecular (gene expression, epigenetic profiling) approaches to analyze the effects of EDCs. At this lab, I have been exposed to animal handling, euthanasia, dissection, and IHC staining.

Supplemental Instruction (SI) provides free, in-person review sessions for some of the most challenging courses at St. Edward's University, including General Chemistry I. SI sessions are led by student leaders who have done well in the course and were highly recommended by faculty. Weekly interactive sessions are held to relearn class material and allow for supplemental support on coursework. I was responsible for developing my own lesson plans for each session and provided availability to students for any questions they had on the course. Data shows that students who consistently attended my SI sessions did 20% better than their peers on quizzes/exams.
