I am currently a day shift supervisor who is responsible for four production lines within the packaging department of the Knoxville, IA plant. As a production supervisor I am accountable for the people safety, food safety, and quality of product in that I proudly place the Hormel brand. Being a production supervisor in a smaller facility I take on further responsibilities that has allowed for both professional growth and the attaining of new skill sets. I do all the production planning for my lines across all three shifts. I manage inventories of supplies to ensure my production lines have all the appropriate materials to produce a diverse product mix. Leadership of our dry room operator team is one of my most important responsibilities. I work with the dry room group on a daily basis to capture our products at the exact moment it is ready to ensure a positive product yield. This allows us to be as profitable as possible while retaining our high level of food quality. Finally, a secondary title I hold is labor coordinator for the Knoxville facility. It is my responsibility to find coverage for all critical positions when we have labor shortages. This responsibility includes bidding out jobs on a daily basis and approving or denying time off requests.
