I do numerous things that include operating a TelePrompTer, audio using a Wheatstone audio board, robotic cameras using a Vinten based robotics system, floor directing, operating a jib, studio maintenance and read rundowns on an OPUS based newsroom system. This station produces over 60 hours of live programing a week, making this the highest local news output in the Grand Rapids-Battle Creek- Kalamazoo, Michigan DMA.

I do numerous things at this PBS affiliated station located in Grand Rapids, Michigan including operating cameras, audio, floor directing, creating graphics using “Lyric” software on a “Chyron” based computer system, assistant directing, operating a teleprompter, set design, and lighting setups for pre-recorded and live local, and national productions. I also assist this station with being a camera operator for uplinks for major news networks such as MSNBC, Fox News, and MSNBC. I’ve been involved with the stations production of the “2013 Hope College Christmas Vespers”, which is a bi-yearly field production which received a merit award for cultural programming as well as the best in category for cultural and preforming arts programming from the Michigan Association of Broadcasters. I was also involved with the program “West Michigan Week” with guest Justin Amash, which received best in category for news special or documentary from the Michigan Association of Broadcasters. I also assist with training new employees and interns.

As an intern at this ABC affiliated station owned and operated by Gannett, I learned the process involved with televised news including assignment editing, shooting news packages, VO-SOT's, and stand ups, editing video using Avid Newscutter, writing news scrips using Avid iNews, writing web stories using Newsmaker, producing, assisted the station with election night coverage by doing many assigned duties such as tabulating numbers using Newsticker and making verification phone calls, making beat calls, updating station's social media pages and main website with up to date information during breaking news situations, and did other duties as assigned.

As an intern at this NPR affiliated station, I Assisted with daily operations in newsroom such as, coordinating with public relations and communications departments at various organizations to schedule interviews, conducted field and in-studio, over the phone interviews for air use, edited audio using AudioVault, wrote web stories, and assisted with other duties as assigned.
