About Nicholas Guitar

Check out my portfolio at nicholasguitar.com!I'm a Software Developer experienced with a variety of languages and frameworks, including React, Node.js, D3.js, PostgreSQL, Mongoose, and many more! I studied Mechanical Engineering at Ohio Northern University until 2017, and began my career as an automotive Design Engineer and Program Manager. Between school and work, I discovered a passion for programming! Whether it was a robotics class in college, or automating aspects of my program management with Excel VBA, I found myself captivated by the creative and rewarding nature of building software. I decided in 2023 to begin turning my programming hobby into a career. I completed self-paced courses at freeCodeCamp on web development, independently creating projects along the way. Eventually, my experience was sufficient to design and launch my first production website, nicholasguitar.com. This website, along with the various apps integrated into it, demonstrate the skills I've built along the way. The site is built with React and Node.js, and includes apps built with other front end JavaScript frameworks like Redux and D3.js. You will also find apps utilizing either PostgreSQL or Mongoose databases.I began my career as an automotive Design Engineer and Program Manager, and spent several years designing and optimizing complex components to meet customer's needs. My experience includes product design and program management all the way from initial concept generation to full production approval and production support. Along the way I did everything from CAD modeling and designing parts for efficient manufacture and launch, to managing projects for multiple years, all the way to mass production approval and in-production part changes. I also spent these years fostering relationships across the entire automotive supply chain, being a core component to many successful vehicle launches, including (but not limited to) the Ford F-150, Ford Mustang, Nissan Titan, GMC Hummer, GMC Sierra, and Chevrolet Silverado. If you're looking for someone with successful product launch experience, an ability to build relationships inside and outside of your organization, or just a strong passion for software development, let's work together!
