An aerospace engineer by formal training, a data engineer/scientist by experience.I have over 9 years' experience in consulting, industrial R & D, federal government and academia spanning both the UK and Australia. Since completing my PhD in aerospace engineering at Cambridge University in 2017, I took a round-a-bout way to data engineering and data science, working as a rocket engine designer and defence research scientist in a past life. FETE is a one-day intensive transferable skills conference for graduate students of the Division A of the Cambridge University Engineering Department. The conference takes place in three parallel sessions, with presentations - both by students presenting their research and by invited speakers from industry and academia - and transferable skills workshops running throughout the day. There are also poster sessions, which are a further chance for graduate students to showcase their work. The day ends with a drinks reception, where prizes are awarded for the best presentation from each of the three sessions and the best posters.My role was in acquiring industrial sponsorship and organising keynote speakers for the conference.
