Founder of Kor Consulting, focused on providing communications and political strategies for local and Washington, D.C.-based political clients. I help clients navigate the political system and effectively communicate their messages to key constituencies through a variety of media. My work contributed to the historic election of several women of color in 2022, the election of the first pro-choice majority in the Minnesota Legislature, and the passage of state legislation such as Paid Family and Medical Leave.

I oversaw the communications and partnership work at CAAL. I supervised the Communications Coordinator, drafted talking points for elected officials, developed our strategic communications plan, pitched media stories, and trained reporters. My work led to a 1000% increase in social media followers, over 50 media stories featured in 2022, and strong partnerships with our local and national coalitions.

I supervised a team of seven staff to execute Erin Murphy’s political strategy for Governor of MN. I developed team work plans, assigned roles, and delegated tasks. I provided coaching, support, and accountability to team members. I managed team resources and developed a culture of feedback and openness. As a result, we had an effective statewide political team that maintained and leveraged political relationships with elected officials, partners, and community leaders across the state.

I was appointed to spearhead Governor Dayton’s Civic Engagement Plan across all state agencies. I partnered with the Governor's cabinet and agency leaders to establish goals, create a work plan, and implement strategies. I oversaw all communications internally to all state employees and externally to the broader public. I managed two staff and 15 contractors and acted as a resource for the entire state. Accomplishments include the establishment of innovative statewide initiatives such as the Civic Engagement Practitioners’ Group, the CivicEngagement Training Series and the MN Civic Engagement Summit.

I oversaw the board of directors to lead the organization in supporting Hmong/Asian LGBTQ communities in Minnesota. I devised and executed SOY’s strategic plan and managed a $20,000 budget. I trained universities and corporations on Hmong/Asian LGBTQ equity and inclusion. I planned cultural programming to celebrate and recognize the Hmong/Asian LGBTQ community. Through this work, we developed equitable and inclusive spaces for Hmong/Asian LGBTQ people and helped shift narratives about the community.

I managed the HIRE Minnesota campaign to ensure that workers of color had access to good-paying jobs. I developed all communications content, including emails, press releases, statements, and more. I managed relationships with coalition partners, stakeholders, and government leaders. I conducted policy research and data analysis to inform campaign decisions. This work led to the implementation of Minnesota’s SNAP Employment & Training program and the exceeding of hiring goals for the U.S. Bank Stadium project, resulting in $39 million in wages for workers of color.

I supervised 10 staff to execute U.S. Senator Al Franken's reelection plan in St. Paul, MN. I approved all voter contact communications materials. I developed highly skilled staff and leaders and constructively managed team relationships and conflicts. I collaborated with elected officials on strategies to elect Democrats. I used data to make decisions about voter engagement. The result of this work was over 4,000 volunteer shifts recruited and over 300,000 voter contact attempts in St. Paul. Al Franken won his election with 53 percent of the vote.

I managed and developed a team of leaders to support the policy advocacy work to pass the Safe and Supportive MN Schools Act. I trained and supported leaders in telling their stores to influence key legislators. The result of this work was the successful passage of the Safe and Supportive MN Schools Act, the strongest anti-bullying legislation in the country at the time, impacting over 850,000 students in Minnesota.

I organized Minnesotans to support marriage for LGBTQ couples. I developed an innovative conversation training program that trained Minnesotans on how to share their stories, find common ground, and persuade skeptics. I conducted 200 training sessions to train more than 2,200 conversation leaders statewide. This work resulted in the legalization of same-sex marriage in 2013.
