As a member of the instructional leadership team, I help to shape our school's instructional vision and also serve as an instructional coach and manager for four Humanities teachers, four Student Support Coordinators, and two School Psychologists. I plan and lead professional development sessions on a variety of in-person and remote teaching practices, including Understanding By Design and Data-Driven instruction. As 9th Grade Level Chair, I am responsible for ensuring the implementation of school policies and procedures for the 9th grade students and teachers. I work closely with the Vice-Principal of Culture to support 9th grade teachers with management and discipline. My goals as 9th grade level chair are to identify and address 9th grade students who are at-risk of retention or attrition due to academic or behavioral challenges, to build a team culture among staff and students on the 9th grade team, and to create an environment in 9th grade classrooms and on campus that facilitates high academic achievement. In my role as grade level chair, I coordinate and run our freshman orientation at Santa Clara University. As one of the two Education Specialists, I am the case manager for roughly half of the IEP students on our campus. This includes providing academic services and coordinating all of the pertinent paperwork. I also develop staff proficiency in differentiating instruction to best serve all students through professional development sessions, department consultation, and regular observation and feedback cycles.In addition to these responsibilities, I am a member of the school's Leadership Team, serve as the co-coordinator of the new teacher development program, and directly manage five teachers on staff. I am also the co-faculty advisor to the International Opportunities Club, which spends the year fundraising in order to go on International Educational Trips during the summer (Service Learning in Peru in summer 2015 and Environmental Learning in Costa Rica in 2016).
