As Vice President of the Annual Fund for the Montana State University Alumni Foundation, I plan and implement a comprehensive program for identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of annual gifts to the University. I oversee all annual giving programs including telemarketing, direct mail, e-mail, online, and special gift programs. I prepare, administer, monitor, and evaluate the annual work plan, budget, and short and long-term goals. Throughout developing and implementing the annual giving marketing program I continually review data and submit management reports to Alumni Foundation and University leadership. Other duties include:Analyzing and identifying program growth opportunities in collaboration with the President & CEO, including facilitating strategically focused programmatic needs assessments consistent with the Alumni Foundations mission and strategic focus. Work closely with the management team, deans, and directors of development to establish and implement strategic initiatives, policies and procedures, plans, systems, and analysis for achieving annual giving fundraising goals for the University. Direct execution of all annual gift campaign fundraising programs and take the lead in their implementation. Continually develop and implement strategic planning of primary annual giving objectives in support of alumni participation and the overall development of a prospect pool in support of major gift programs. Serve as an annual giving information resource and ensure sound operation and communication between the annual giving program and directors of development. Cultivate new programmatic markets in collaboration with the President & CEO and liaison with outside agencies. I am also responsible for managing state-by-state charitable solicitation registrations on an annual basis, as well as coordinate a group of staff to oversee PCI DSS compliance.

As Director of Annual Giving at The Ohio State University (OSU), I was responsible for the direct planning, management, coordination, and evaluation of the annual fundraising efforts for OSU. • Directly supervised the Ohio State University Annual Giving Data staff member, Associate Director of Annual Giving-Special Campaigns, and Ruffalo Cody Call Center management. • Responsible for generating over $46 million in revenue over five fiscal years from more than 160,000 total donors (80,000 of which were alumni donors) through strategic multi-channel efforts. • Managed the integration of engagement and fundraising technologies, including: new call center management and software, mobile fundraising tool, text fundraising, and analytics platform. • Analyzed fundraising reports and giving trends, adjusting the annual giving strategies to maximize both overall results and return-on-investment. • Communicated with and engaged approximately 200,000 OSU alumni/friends/parents/patients and clients on a regular basis through a variety of channels, including direct mail solicitations, event registration, survey taking, online solicitations, social media marketing, and telemarketing. • Administered the University’s Blackbaud CRM (BBEC) Direct Marketing module and ensured that alumni/friends/parents/patients and clients were being properly solicited according to fiscal year strategy. • Trained Annual Giving staff—both at OSU and at other Universities—on the BBEC products. Oversaw the training of The Ohio State University’s Wexner Medical Center Annual Giving staff and Advancement Reporting staff on the Blackbaud direct marketing tools. • Coordinated with the Ohio State University Communications department to carry out Annual Giving strategy through online resources, direct mail pieces, and/or phonathon program while ensuring consistent messaging.

As Interim Senior Director of Annual Giving at The Ohio State University, I oversaw all duties and responsibilities of the Director of Annual Giving (listed above) as well as reported directly to Associate Vice President/OSU Alumni Association COO, participated as a member of The Ohio State University Alumni Association Leadership Team, participated in University Advancement Leadership meetings, and directly supervised the OSU Annual Giving program and staff. • Assisted in the development, execution and tracking of strategy to convert The Ohio State University Alumni Association from a dues-based membership model to an all-inclusive alumni model with a gift-based recognition membership model. • Assisted in preparing the overall solicitation strategy for leadership-level annual giving through a multi-channel approach and ensured proper implementation of the program.

As the Associate Director of Annual Giving, I supervised the Phonathon Manager and oversaw all phone operations; coordinated phone operation strategy with other direct marketing tools being used in the Office of Annual Giving.I utilized the development CRM to retrieve, analyze and manipulate data to evaluate the effectiveness of Annual Giving solicitations, identify shifts in results throughout the year, analyze trends internally as well as among peer institutions and make recommendations to create the largest positive impact on results. I would also implement fundraising strategies created by both the Director of Annual Giving and myself around direct mail and email, which included creating data orders, proofing direct mail solicitations and managing multiple projects on an ongoing basis. These efforts would result in fiscal year end counts of approximately 70,000 donors and over $15 million annually.
