As a student in my penultimate year of a biomedical engineering degree I have been exposed to a wide range of experiences that have enabled myself to grow as an individual. The classes in which I undertook and the lessons that I learned throughout my studies have shaped my passions and desires to become a part of the biomedical engineering industry. In addition to this it enabled me to showcase my high attention to detail and personal motivations towards success as recognised through my results.Beyond university I have also had the opportunity to work as an intern in Royal Prince Alfred Hospital's Biomedical Engineering department. This allowed me to experience what life is like as a biomedical engineer and also get hands on experience with medical devices from various companies and from various medical classes. It further improved my analytical and technical problem solving skills whilst bettering my understanding for intricate and complex systems. I was able to communicate professionally with multiple health disciplines and truly learn the ins and outs of hospital operations.In addition to my standard daily tasks, my experience was plagued with COVID, where I got to experience the pressures a pandemic can place on a hospital system. As an intern I aided the department in commissioning over $10 million worth of medical equipment to support the influx of COVID-19 patients. We also helped set up a COVID-19 specific ICU which can be recognised under my RPAH experience.
