King Island

As Working Manager, I am resposible for the day-to-day management of the Southern Division of properties on King Island.This includes: Pasture Management (an intensive rotational grazing system to optimise weight gain and pasture production on predominantly ryegrass and clover pastures).Animal health and husbandry programs. Overseeing contractors; (fodder conservation, fertilser application, earthmoving, fencing.Weekly and monthly reporting of pasture and animal performance (growth, soil temperature).Delegating permanent and (seasonal) casual employees.

Supported by a working manager, I manage a section of a large scale, high intensity beef grazing operation. Management of weight gains and pasture management is a central to my position. Pasture is managed through rotational grazing, with moves based on pasture residual levels and leaf emergence rate (LER). All cattle husbandry as well as property improvement projects are also key aspects of my position.

Dairy Park is a privately owned grazing business located in the central tablelands of New South Wales. It is essentially a grazing operation with spring calving cow herd, terminal lambs, and trading cattle enterprises. In conjunction with the owner, my role is to plan and implement daily activities and long term farm programs and improvements, as well as oversee international students/labourers.
