Responsible for the efficiency of the materials department, which includes the organization of the department, ordering of medical supplies, and maintaining an appropriate level of inventory of all medical supplies. Coordinate the receiving and stocking of all medical supplies to their assigned area. Evaluate the quality of goods, arrange the replacement, or return of goods. Support the surgical staff, this includes coordinating new product demonstration with vendors, scheduling equipment repairs and preventative maintenance, and acquiring the necessary materials and equipment needed to perform surgery. Manage contracts, establish customer accounts with new vendors, and negotiate local price agreements. Create and submit purchase orders, this includes bill only, standard purchase, return, and or capital purchase. Operate as the liaison between account payable and vendors, ensure invoices are processed and paid in a timely manner. Attend community events, seek out new vendors and establish a network of connections. Serve as a resource for the surgical staff, communicate our equipment limitations and medical supply inventory. Attend prospect doctor meetings, to assist in the determination of our capability to accommodate the needs of onboarding. Explore opportunities to increase the profitability of the organization, this can include maintaining an appropriate level of inventory, reducing shrink, changing product suppliers, and negotiating reduced pricing for materials. •While newly hired to USPI, I welcomed the responsibility of launching an orthopedic total joints program in my surgery center. Successfully launched the program in just 3 short months, this includes from start to finish.
