Working with a team of two other co-directors, I managed a campaign office in Portland, ME and built a grassroots effort within the state to ensure that Sen. King and Sen. Collins stand up against proposed environmental rollbacks. I was responsible for recruiting, interviewing/hiring, and training the staff to do fieldwork, as well as daily administrative, accounting, and reporting tasks required to manage the office. I also worked with other environmental groups in Maine, as well as local news sources, to organize several campaign events including rallies, press conferences, and meetings with the Senators’ offices and Congresswoman Pingree.

After starting as an intern, I was offered a full-time position as the executive assistant for five partners of the firm. In addition to administrative tasks, I wrote communications from my partners to coalition members and clients. I organized coalition events such as a technology symposium at the Hart Senate Building, and arranged and prepared for client meetings each month. I also researched and wrote talking points and overviews for my partners, as well as former Senator Mary Landrieu, about various proposed bills in the Senate.

I worked for a PhD student surveying recreational fishers on the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park in order to determine the drivers of poaching behavior by local fishers. With his permission, I used the data we collected to produce and present my own research paper of analyzing the effects of social pressure, authority, and morality on poaching activity.

I worked as a policy intern for matrix. My duties included writing analyses on G.R.A.S. substances and how to go about introducing genetically engineered algae into power plants to convert flue gas into ethanol as a way to recycle carbon and create an additional fuel source.
