As a researcher, I worked on indoor personal localization devices and gait analysis systems. I worked with a team to develop software that can accurately locate the position of wearable devices. Using our software, we created animations of the human body to track the daily activities of our wearers. Additionally, I assisted clinical researchers in the study of balance and movement health related studies using our software and wearable devices.

As a part of the research and development team at Hendrickson, I worked to validate the mechanical properties of prototype and production parts. I setup and operated data collection instrumentation for on-highway trailer suspensions tests to validate mechanical fatigue, ultimate load, and ride characteristics. I analyzed the results of the tests to evaluate the quality and consistency of the performance of the suspensions. Additionally, I redesigned test fixtures to meet the needs of the lab technicians and reduce the down-time of the test equipment.

As a part of the wheel end and brakes group at Hendrickson, I worked to design efficient and long-lasting brakes for primarily on-highway trucking applications. I worked with a team of other product development engineers to design effective drum brake packages to fit a range of trailers suspensions. My main project for the summer was to design a dust-shield that could fit with any combination of Hendrickson's drum brakes and trailer axles without compromising the functionality of the shield. Unlike many other designs, I was able to create a practical shield that avoided interference with other systems without designing a hole into the shield that would have allowed dirt and debris into the brakes. Additionally, I assisted the FEA group by creating accurate models of brake components using 3D scanning and reverse-engineering.
