Political risk analyst on the due diligence team for WMC when they were looking to buy into the privatisation of then CVRD, now Vale, the world's largest iron ore producer.Due to my fluency in Portuguese and previous experience of having lived in Brazil, I acted as the coordinator for the Australian WMC team and local contacts and suppliers during the two month period of living in Rio de Janeiro whilst undertaking due diligence.Upon returning to Melbourne to prepare for the final board presentation on the deal, I wrote the political risk segment of the of the proposal which was reviewed by both the CEO and CFO with both of whom I had personal interaction.
