The Laboratory Aide provides support for the clinical laboratory to ensure that testing may be performed in a timely manner. This also includes ensuring that the laboratory environment remains clean and safe, as well as other duties which include: locating, retrieving, and transporting specimens as needed, generate, distribute, and monitoring worksheets and pending reports, maping samples promptly after testing is completed,storing samples, capped or tightly covered, with parafilm in designated storage areas, with the utmost consideration to maintaining specimen integrity, safety, easy retrieval, and organization.Also providing assistance to Lab Techs in any area when necessary,maintaining a safe and clean workspace at all time, maintaining a well-organized work area with adequate supplies and maintaining documentation of assigned functions as required while wearing the appropriate PPE when within the designated laboratory area.

Worked in a microbiology/immunology laboratory where I studied the effects of various antibiotics on the Western Mosquito fish's outer mucosal layer due to its similar consistency and composition with the mucosal layer of the respiratory and digestive tracts of humans. This experiment was a small piece of a project whose hypothesis required multiple angles to be tested to ensure the recorded data was as accurate as possible.

One of five hand picked leaders chosen to lead a group of 30, 16 year old campers. In the first half of a 3 week period, the campers were lifeguard, first aid, and blood-born pathogen certified through the red cross along with learning and practicing leadership/team work skills. The second half of the three week period took place in Colorado at Adventure Experiences' Inc. Base Camp where the leadership and team work skills were put into practice during various activities. Leadership and team work are at the core of what the CLP program is about, and I was chosen because I expressed these qualities during my earlier work with Camp Olympia.

At Camp Olympia in Trinity, Texas, the goal of the program is to provide a fun, safe, and learning environment for campers aged 7-15. The positive zone that is created by the staff and facilities of Camp Olympia ensure one of the best locations for the growth of Body, Mind, and Spirit of all those that attend the Camp. I was certified in lifeguard, first aid, CPR, and blood born pathogen training so i could oversee the safety of swimmers around the lake and the swimming pool of Camp Olympia when lifeguarding.
