I am an Independent Advocate & Arbitrator based in London. My practice operates on a global basis. I sit as arbitrator in many jurisdictions and have decided disputes under various different laws, including both common law and civil law systems. I have been appointed under various institutional rules (including ICC, LCIA, and SIAC) as well as ad hoc. I also act as advocate and adviser on international arbitration cases. I have spent 25+ years in international law firms acting on large or complex cross-border disputes of high value and/or commercial significance. I continue to assist clients to solve problems, manage risk, defend their interests, and win their cases. I have appeared before various commercial and investment tribunals, as well as in the London High Court. I was based for several years in Singapore where I led the Singapore arbitration practice for Herbert Smith. I was also head of the India disputes practice for Herbert Smith Freehills (after the merger of Herbert Smith with Freehills), and later head of the London arbitration practice for Bird & Bird. I am a speaker, writer and commentator on a variety of dispute resolution topics, in particular in the areas of commercial and investment arbitration, and choice of law and forum in cross-border transactions.
