As a child care professional, I aim to make a positive difference in the lives of children and youth who face various challenges and difficulties. I have a diploma in Child and Youth Care with Addictions from Eastern Academy, a certificate as an ECE worker, a certificate in Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI), and a training in suicide prevention, which equip me with the knowledge and skills to provide effective and compassionate care and support to my clients.Currently, I work as a child youth care worker at AMAL, a non-profit organization that provides residential and outreach services to youth who are experiencing homelessness, substance abuse, mental health issues, or family breakdown. I also worked as a child youth care worker at Eastern School District of NL, where I assisted students with special needs, behavioral problems, or learning difficulties in their academic and social development. In both roles, I use a combination of therapeutic relationships, strengths-based approaches, and my understanding of complex situations to help children and youth reach their potential and overcome their challenges. I am passionate about youth care and development, and I am always eager to learn and grow in my profession. I am currently starting a BA in child and youth care, with the goal of pursuing a career in social work in the near future. I believe that every child and youth deserves a chance to thrive and succeed, and I am committed to making a positive impact in their lives.
