These calculations and drawings include ship systems regarding re-powering steamships to diesel powered ships, exhaust gas scrubber installations on Great Lakes ships, ship lines drawings, various system piping arrangement and diagram drawings, machinery space ventilation systems (calculations/arrangement and diagram drawings), new engine replacements and their system modifications (calculations/arrangement and diagram drawings), steam load analysis calculations, propeller shaft calculations, and tank capacity calculations.

Tasked with shadowing surveyors conducting different types of surveys such as New Construction, Annual, and Vendor surveys. The types of ships we surveyed ranged from tugboats to barges to chemical tankers. I became familiarized with the rules and regulations for Classification, Welding and Materials, New Construction, Systems and Machinery, and After Construction surveys. I spent a lot of time in vessel engine rooms inspecting and testing the engines, generators, steering gears, and boilers to make sure they were working properly.
