Research into the signaling downstream of the high-affinity IgE receptor, under the supervision of Dr. John Ryan (Biology Dept.). Additionally, took courses in education practice at VCU and abroad as part of an NSF program. Taught the second semester of the general chemistry sequence at Elizabeth City State University, a partner in the VCU IRACDA program.Guest instructor in other courses at VCU concerning chemical biology and cancer.

Dissertation research initially explored the roles of nitric oxide (NO) and matrix metalloproteinases (MMP) in models of Parkinson's Disease. This transitioned into studies on NO and MMP-1 in models of glioblastoma multiforme (GBM). Examined growth, invasion, and arrays of signaling proteins in glioma cells. This was conducted under the supervision of Dr. Helen Fillmore (Neurosurgery and Anatomy & Neurobiology).Teaching assistant for histology and gross anatomy courses in first-professional and graduate programs.
