I was paired with a reservoir engineer to complete a field study in South Texas and South Louisiana to determine potential opportunities for well recompletes, drill locations, or optimization projects under the supervision of two mentors. I mapped the lease area using well log data and 3D seismic to create structure, net sand, and net pay maps, analyzed and correlated cross sections, as well as administered volumetric techniques to determine oil or gas in place. My reservoir engineer and I then discussed viable and economic opportunities to later present to executives and management of the company. One of our recomplete projects was executed in fall 2020. (This internship experience was two separate summers, the first lasting from 06/2020-08/2020 and the second from 06/2021-08/2021).

Correlated strip logs, mine maps, and field observations to map the NE quadrangle of the Broad Top coalfield in order to interpret the structural geology and stratigraphy associated with the region. I also participated in public outreach projects such as creating informative displays and educational pieces for young students.
