And Finally, I coordinate with the manufacturing teams to ensure products are delivered on time and with complete satisfaction.
Mechanical Design And Integration Engineer
Worked to design, prototype, test, and improve several field equipment components for unmanned systems including:1.) a self-contained compact ground control station with a built-in battery back-up system, command and control software, communications link, and exterior networking capabilities,2.) an autonomous tracking antenna with multiple directed and omnidirectional antennas to achieve peak communications link during all unmanned flight operations, including beyond visual line of sight missions, and3.) a transportable battery charging unit with an internal power supply to sustain unmanned aircraft flight operations.I designed and implemented several payload systems to function with an interchangeable mounting system on both VTOL fixed wing and multirotor unmanned aircraft. I also built, tested, and flight test certified several types of in-house designed unmanned aircraft systems. I often participated as a key member of the flight operations team, serving as the Ground Control Station Operator for multiple types of aircrafts’ internal certification testing as well as external flight operations. Finally, I worked directly with vendors to source off the shelf components as well as specially designed and machined pieces.
Flight Test Engineer
I developed multiple MATLAB scripts to automatically analyze and decipher large data files from the Piccolo II autopilot system and several other sensors onboard the SIERRA-B CAT-III Unmanned Ariel System, a 480lb fixed wing unmanned aircraft developed by NASA Ames Research Center, in support of the vehicles Initial Operating Capability (IOC) and Airworthiness Certification. I also helped to co-author the SIERRA-B Flight Test Report, responsible for all the detailed analytics reporting for every flight in the 18-flight test program, generating hundreds of charts comparing desired data and important metrics used to tune and certify the aircrafts capability. Finally, I supported SIERRA project Configuration Management (CM); maintained the CM database to support component installation, configuration changes, and accountability.
