Profile bio

About Nicholas Schumacker

I am many things, a paralegal student and a cultural historian. But most importantly, I am the person who reads the “terms and conditions” before subscribing to a service. How I became that person is a different story, and it is all because of my insatiable need to learn.I pursued my Master’s in History, which deepened my appreciation for contextual importance in all my work. As a subject, history is inherently interdisciplinary, it can be used to investigate and research anything through evidence – an ability that will be invaluable to my career as a paralegal. In my studies, I specialized in researching the relationship between military organizations and sources of authority throughout history. By investigating the cultural norms of their time in conjunction with the contracts these organizations formed, I constructed effective arguments and authored several essays. My degree has armed me with a specialized set of skills in analysis, critical thinking, and communication that will contribute to my legal career.I thought to myself, where can I use these skills to their fullest while still helping people? That thinking led me to pursue the Paralegal Ontario Graduate Certificate at Humber Polytechnic. When I began the program, I was unsure if I would be a good fit for the legal profession. After my first semester, I have discovered that this field is where I thrive and am excited to dive deeper into the professional world of law. In particular, I am enjoying contract analysis and looking forward to accounting law and criminal law in my upcoming semesters. Currently, I am seeking practical experience in the legal sector to develop and hone my skills. My goal is simple. I want to grow as a legal professional to use my skills and proficiencies in the best way possible. The thing is, I’ve always been the person to read the “terms and conditions”, only now I want to help people by doing so.
