Sr. Customs Commodity Specialist
Review items where Target is the importer of record. A thorough review of each imported item is done to determine how the item is classified and duty assessed. Must also determine if any Partner Government Agency declarations are required, or if any anti-dumping or countervailing duties apply. Work directly with Inventory Analysts and business partners to ensure compliance, and that items are being approved in a timely manner to ensure purchase orders can be written.• Created a Rejection Report for all of Global Trade Operations (GTO). Analyze and collect all GTOs rejections of items submitted by our business partners. Rejections vary widely from contradicting information to needing more information concerning the product. Every month I send each individual Customs Commodity Specialist their rejection data. We use this data to hold our business partners accountable, refine our commodity type questionnaires, improve our data intake, and drive down item set up and approval times. • Collaborated with an Inventory Operation Analyst to create a process and teaching guide for the Inventory Analysts. Custom Commodity Specialist work directly with Inventory Analyst and there was a need to teach Inventory Analyst about the Custom Commodity Specialist role, and how item approval is accomplished. This allowed Inventory Analyst to understand why some items need to be reapproved, and if they need to work with our business partners. This increased productivity and compliance between both teams and our business partners.• Created a Footwear PowerPoint to share with our business partners. Footwear is one the more complicated items classified in soft lines. I created a PowerPoint to share with the Inventory Analyst and or business partners explaining how Footwear is classified. It is now published on Partners Online.
