Galaxy Fellow

Current

International

I was one of six members selected for a prestigious professional development program in the Space Force, known as Galaxy. During this program, I gained exposure to various different functional areas, continuing to increase my breadth of knowledge. I traveled domestically and internationally to visit different military organizations and industry partners, attempting to understand their mission set and implement their best practices in my day-to-day activities.During the education portion of the fellowship, I was exposed to the functional areas of software development, project management, space operations, intelligence, systems integration, and more. I took the lessons learned from these visits and applied it to my capstone project.I worked with the US Space Force Element at US SOCOM (Special Operations Command) to meet the commander's intent of operationalizing AI/ML tools. In only four months, I optimized the current information analysis processes with the delivery of a satellite imagery tool. This tool supplements a $192M software and dramatically increases the operator's capability to make decisions at the operational and, in the future, tactical levels. This effort earned me an Air and Space Force Achievement Medal.

Chief Of Business Operations

Cape Canaveral, Florida

Upon my return from my previous work experience (software engineer), I had the opportunity to serve as the section chief for the Business Operations section within my unit. During this time, I completed the discovery and delivery of over $15M of initatives to further the mission of my unit - mission assurance. My unit's mission is to ensure the arrival of commercial and national security satellites into orbit. To further this mission objective, I collaborated with military and industry partners nationwide to develop softwares and research to increase our mission assurance capabilities. Some of these projects are below:1. The delivery of a data analytics tool for the systems engineers, enabling them to more rapidly identify potential issue tickets before they become an issue. The optimization of the rocket body processing has contributed to 100% mission success on the Space Coast.2. Collaboration with a weather unit and Naval Research Laboratory to develop a machine learning algorithm that can better inform the likelihood of a launch scrub due to a weather event. This development has improved the accuracy of launch scheduling on the eastern range and reduced the number of scrubs or delays, due to natural causes. 3. Served as a Contracting Officer Representative for four separate contracts, a role typically reserved for more senior level Company Grade Officers (right below "middle management"). This role served various units in Alabama, LA, Colorado, and Florida. Developing the skills to understand different functional work areas and collaborating with people across multiple time zones has rapidly advanced my capabilities and professional development.

Software Engineer

Cape Canaveral, Florida, United States

One of four Space Force members selected for a competitive Software Engineering development program. I learned full-stack web development over a three month educational period and applied the skills I learned to solve a given problem set. I lead a product team comprised of eight people across three functional areas, developing an application for a US Air Force Security Forces Squadron. The application updated antiquated processes with a new, user-friendly user interface and certificate tracking back-end, ensuring the proper requirements for assignments were being met. This application resulted in $2.4M cost savings to the USG, as the application was fully developed and delivered with organic talent. Additionally, the end-user was extremely satisfied with the improved process (transition from tracking via Excel to a web-based application) and reported 100% accuracy in duty assignments and time savings of senior leaders in the four figures of hours saved.
